* Due to various causes, including inmate population declines, James A. Thomas Center and West Facility (except for the Contagious Disease Unit) on Rikers have been placed on reserve status as have the Brooklyn and Queens Houses of Detention. They are closed to inmate housing but remain DOC facilities. The Bronx House of Detention, Brooklyn Correctional Facility and the 6-bed terminal care unit in Goldwater Memorial Hospital on Roosevelt Island have been completely discontinued and are no longer part of DOC.
