The Arturo Meyers Member Of The Year Award [is] awarded by the Correction Officers Benevolent Association to a Correction Officer for outstanding acts of gallantry at the time of imminent hazard to life.

The following citation with the Arturo Meyers Member Of The Year Award awarded Correction Officer Anthony Scoma is taken from the Medal Day 2011 booklet.

CORRECTION OFFICER ANTHONY SCOMA, S.O.D. I E.S.U.

Officer Scoma joined the Department in 2005.

Assigned currently to SOD, Officer Scoma has also served at O.B.C.C.

He was instrumental last year in coming to the aid of an NYPD officer who was hurt when her weapon accidentally discharged after she delivered an inmate to Rikers Island.

In this NYCHS web presentation, those citations are on Pages 11 and 18, respectively. [If you access one of those pages by clicking its underlined number, use your browser's back button to return.]
