NYCHS CLOSE-UP ENHANCEMENTS OF HABS PHOTO #12 -- THE CHAPEL
Above, digital enhancement of what had appeared as a solid black circle in the chapel ceiling suggests some sort of design - unclear - looking down on the pews.

Below, on the right wall and on the left wall are what appear to be framed paintings whose features emerge somewhat clearer with the help of digitial enhancements.

The right wall image, under digital enhancement, quite clearly appears to be Moses with a gray beard, standing beneath a Star of David, and carrying the 10 Commandments on two stone tablets. In the background appear to be mountains.

The left wall image, under digital enhancement, appears to be a woman, her hair covered by a shawl or flowing cloth head garment, as she looks down upon on new-born child whose small head rests upon a folded white cloth, perhaps over the woman's arm as she cradles the infant. The scene would seem to be that of the Madonna and the Child Jesus.

Whatever murals may have been painted on the front walls of the chapel have peeled away.
