Official DOC flags and posters explaining its design were distributed throughout the agency in 1999 for display at facilities.
The NY Correction History Society, launched in July, chartered in September, opened an archives and research service in the Academy. Its web site won its first award: www.correctionhistory.org

The Body Orifice Scanning System (BOSS) chairs, tested in 1998 with ESU and Transportation, became a fixture in virtually every DOC facility during 1999.

New look in vehicle markings, introduced last year, was first displayed on this Emergency Service Unit cruiser. Jetski acquisition -- enhancing the Harbor Unit's rapid response, quicker land access, closer shoreline surveillance and maneuverability -- was among DOC innovations last year.
